GettyWHO HAS BEEN SELECTED?
Tottenham striker Solanke, who completed a £65 million ($83m) transfer to north London from Bournemouth over the summer, is in line to win his second senior cap almost seven years after his first. His last appearance for England came in November 2017 while still on the books at Liverpool – when he stepped off the bench in a friendly date with Brazil.
Harry Kane remains the go-to option up front, though, with the Bayern Munich talisman up to 68 goals for his country after becoming an international centurion during the September round of fixtures. He will take the captain’s armband once again when out on the field.
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham missed out on the last squad through injury, but comes straight back in after returning to fitness. Experienced Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker earns a recall, while Morgan Gibbs-White and Angel Gomes of Nottingham Forest and Lille respectively are looking to figure prominently after making their bows during the last break in domestic duty.
WHO MISSES OUT?
United centre-half Maguire, who watched the European Championships from afar, is missing again after slipping behind Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez in the pecking order at Old Trafford – and nursing a calf muscle injury of late.
Spurs playmaker James Maddison has not been selected since being cut from England’s preliminary Euro 2024 squad, while West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen – who is now skipper at the London Stadium – is another creative influence that has been overlooked by Carsley on this occasion.
Marcus Rashford continues the pay the price for his lack of consistency at Manchester United, while Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers – who has been catching the eye this season – will have to wait a little longer for his first senior call-up.
