Manchester City were left red-faced in the January when Manchester United swooped in to snatch Alexis Sanchez from under their nose.
The Chile international was widely expected to move to the Etihad Stadium, but in the end opted for Old Trafford in a swap deal that resulted in Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving to the Emirates.
Now, rumours have emerged suggesting that United could scupper another deal for their local rivals when the transfer window opens in the summer.
According to The Mirror, United manager Jose Mourinho is ready to battle City for the signature of Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who the publication claims is rated at £50m.
It is believed that City have already held preliminary talks with the 26-year-old’s representatives, but the Red Devils are ready to swoop in.
Jorginho has made 33 appearances in all competitions for Napoli this season, scoring three times and creating four assists.
Despite United’s reported interest, City fans do not seem worried that their neighbours will cause an upset.
